Shiant which sleeps 2 in 1 double, was our family home, built on the family croft in the township of Kildonan (near Edinbane) with magnificent views over Loch Snizort to the Ascrib islands, Shiants and the Outer Hebrides beyond. This view whether drenched in summer sunset, or dusted with light winter snow is always captivating and frees your mind to relax. Facing south-east and north-west, sunrise and sunset are glorious. The croft land extends down to a rocky shore where you are welcome to wander. Dogs are welcome with well behaved owners!

It is a great base from which to easily explore all of North Skye. Situated by historical ‘Dun Flashadder’, the croft and cottage is only a few hundred metres off the A850. It’s a 2 min drive from Edinbane, 20 min from both Portree or Dunvegan and neighbour to well known Waternish.

This deceptively spacious cottage has been split into two apartments. Entirely independent they each have ample access, parking and seating areas, and offer privacy to enjoy your holiday. Also a great idea for those that getaway together, but enjoy having some peace and quiet to themselves too.

Shiant has a distinctive Highland character and it’s welcome; that you really know you’re in a charismatic island home from home. Colourful and cosy, with ‘minders of childhood freedom’, local island heritage and some modern luxuries it is a refreshingly inviting holiday apartment.

The accommodation is on two floors as follows.

• Downstairs: 1 lounge, 1 kitchen/diner, 1 jacuzzi bathroom, and porch.
• Upstairs: 1 Double gallery bedroom

The upstairs gallery bedroom is wonderfully romantic, with a canopy bed in rich colours with drapes. Candles, flowers, and quirky old photos endear this room as a very charming island retreat. Lie at night and enjoy the stars and moon in the skylight window. If you leave the blackout blind open, evening sunset engulfs you in a rich golden glow.

The bathroom has views to the Trotternish Ridge from the jacuzzi and candles invites you to truly relax after an energetic day out or simply pamper yourself because you deserve it.

The living room has fabulous sea-views, easily enjoyed from the fireside whose cosy warm fire invites you to sit back and chill out! Characterful old island photos will inspire your escape from every day life. TV, and DVD help those that still enjoy modcons of the 21st century.

The kitchen, is fully equipped, also with dining table and chairs, and has a wood-burning stove which is great to top up the heat and hot water. It’s so inviting to sit and indulge in fine food and wine. The cosy warmth drifts up to add extra heat to the romantic gallery bedroom.

The porch is very spacious and great for all your outdoor gear, a couple of bikes and unloading the car. Facing north and east it’s a great place to paint, or sit and enjoy some daytime sun while reading a book with the back door open.
